ACTION
We provide support, resources, and tools for women in crisis to step out into their future with confidence.
INSPIRATION
One of our founders is a single dad—who was also raised by a single dad. So, the Tugboat Foundation was born out of a deep understanding of struggle and a desire to pay it forward.

Anchor of hope
Being a single parent is hard. Sometimes it feels like you’re treading water, using every ounce of energy just to stay afloat.
The Tugboat Foundation provides meaningful support, helping you build resilience to navigate forward with strength and confidence.
We work one-on-one with families, providing personalized assistance to meet the unique challenges currently threatening to take you under. From emergency housing and tangible provision to legal assistance and budgeting help, the Tugboat Foundation offers safe passage through the storms of life.

Finding calmer waters
Through partnerships with other nonprofits, agencies, and individuals in the Raleigh-Durham community, The Tugboat Foundation identifies and secures the resources you need. Our vision is to help you cast off your worries—what your kids will eat, where you’ll sleep, and how to navigate the court system. We’ll equip you with relief for today and confident hope for tomorrow.

Stories of Hope
Be encouraged by the stories of single moms and dads who have been given assistance through The Tugboat Foundation network.
“Thank you for helping me get on my feet, find my kids, and get into temporary housing last year. I have never been treated with such generosity and care. I was so embarrassed that I was in this situation with my kids. You reassured me that it was just a bump in the road and to not feel ashamed. I am forever grateful to you all.”
“Thank you for doing what you did for me and my mom. We are with relatives…and we are safe. My mom started and new job, and I started a new school and have many new friends.”
“Thank you Mrs. Kealey and Mr. Ashley for all you have done for me and my kids over the holidays! Prices going up made me worried about being able to have our normal Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
